This is not a white-knuckle trip, but a motorized interpretive float trip. The three-hour excursion is a "float trip" with a few splashes here and there. The tour begins at the base of the Hoover Dam and continues down the Colorado River to Willow Beach. The 40-passenger rafts are piloted by specially trained tour guides who simply want to be sure you have a good time. Passengers are able to take pictures of the canyon, teeming with wildlife, from eagles to bighorn sheep to various species of fish. Moreover, guides continuously point out historic and geologically significant sights, and native wildlife to add to the experience.
During the spring season, passengers should prepare themselves with a windbreaker, long pants and a hat, as temperatures range around 65 - 85 degrees. During the summer bring a hat, shirt with long sleeves, and bathing suits. Be prepared for direct sun. Expect temperatures of 85 - 100+ degrees. During the winter passengers need a heavy jacket, gloves, long sleeves, and other cold weather attire. Expect temperatures of 40 - 80 degrees. Tours include lunch on the beach.
