The immensely popular Caesars Palace has been on the Strip since 1966, and in many ways it represents Las Vegas itself. Considered the epitome of luxury, Caesars also once represented the worst in kitsch. Playing out the Roman theme to death, cocktail waitresses once roamed the casino floor in short togas, meandering aimlessly past Roman colonnades, pillars, and statues - all engulfed by mirrors and neon. It was Las Vegas/Roman decadence at both its best and worst. However, that was old Vegas (the Elvis years), so in 1997 Caesars spent $300 million to completely renovate its facilities. Since then Caesars Palace has evolved into a beautiful and delicate balance between class and kitsch, the standard Las Vegas is generally trying to emulate (see the Bellagio).
All of Caesars' 2,430 rooms are located within easy walking distance of its restaurants, casinos, pool, meeting rooms, spa, and lounges. Guests staying at Caesars can choose from a standard room that is spacious and elegant to an ultra elaborate suite that can include a steam room or even a private dinning room. The hotel offers great dinning and wonderful entertainment including magical shows and celebrity appearances.
Visitors will love the magnificent selection of retail stores in the Forum Shops, with more than 100 stores and restaurants. Situated under a dome roof, it transports you back to the grandeur that was Rome as animated figures of Greece history come to life with the help of the special audio and video effects. This area also has the "Race for Atlantis," one of the most exciting simulator rides in Las Vegas.
The casino floor is bright and airy and a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The Sports Book is large and comfortable, but is extremely crowded on Sundays during football season. Most of the gaming facilities are considered among the best in Vegas.
